Quanah Parker Exhibit: One Man, Two Worlds - Texas Lakes Trails (May 3rd - June 20th)
Cynthia Ann and Quanah Parker are two important names in U.S. frontier history. Much can be learned from the dramatic story of these two courageous individuals. In 1836, a Comanche raiding party took Cynthia Ann from her family. Over the following years, she became wife to a Comanche chief and mother to children, including Quanah. After Cynthia Ann was taken back by Texas Rangers, Quanah became one of the most important Comanche leaders both in war and peace. The photo exhibit tells this story of the lives of these two persons caught between two different worlds. The Lakes Trail Region views this traveling exhibit to educate visitors about their lives.
May 31st - Open Late - Night Before Food Truck Championship
Speaker: Lance Tahmahkera - Great-Great Grandson of Quanah Parker - 6:00 PM - Free Admission

INTERCONNECTIONS: to be or to become mutually connected
Interconnections is to connect with one another or with other things that are in some way related to each other such as “the complex interconnections between people’s
lives in modern society.” Or, a mutual connection between two or more things.
This body of work displays various genre of imagery from landscape to figurative to still life while remaining interconnected. For the artist, they represent the many different social systems that exist today in a global existence. With all the differences and dissention that exist, we are still interconnected, just as these paintings.

Lonesome Dove Exhibit - Texas Humanities
Larry McMurtry’s epic novel of two aging Texas Rangers who drive a herd of stolen cattle 2,500 miles from the Rio Grande to Montana to found the first ranch there — captured the public imagination and has never let it go. The Lonesome Dove miniseries, which first aired on CBS in 1989, lassoed an even wider audience.
Capturing the sweeping visual imagery of the original miniseries, the Lonesome Dove exhibition presents fifty-fived framed classic images taken during filming by Bill Wittliff, renowned photographer, writer, and executive producer (with Suzanne De Passe) of Lonesome Dove. The images, however, are worlds apart from ordinary production stills, depicting an extraordinary union of art, literature, and history.
